Prevention is Better Than Cure

To prolong the life of your rug, minimize dirt accumulation. Use a vacuum with rotating brushes to loosen surface dirt and a strong suction to penetrate through the pile, removing all particles.

Handling Creases

New rugs may have folds or creases due to rolling for transit. To remove these:

  1. Reroll the rug tightly with the pile facing outwards.
  2. Place it near a heat source, such as a radiator or hot press, for 1 day.
  3. Reroll it from the other end, still with the pile facing outwards, and leave it near the heat source for another 2 days.

Washable Rugs

For machine washing, follow the instructions on the rug's label. The recommended temperature is 30°C. Ensure your machine is large enough; rugs larger than 170cm x 280cm require a drum size of 8kg or more.

Stain Removal Process

Act Quickly!

  1. Remove Particles: Use your hands or a rounded spoon to remove any loose dry particles.
  2. Blot: Avoid vigorous rubbing, which can spread the stain and push it deeper into the rug. Cover the stain with a clean towel or thick pad of paper towels and press down using the heel of your hand. Repeat with dry towels until the liquid is absorbed.
  3. Soapy Water: Create a spot-cleaning solution by mixing a few drops of clear hand or dishwashing liquid with water. Mild carpet cleaner or shampoo also works. Avoid laundry detergent or creamy hand washes, as they are too alkaline and may leave a sticky residue. Apply the mixture sparingly to the stain and gently wipe from the outside inwards.
  4. Rinse: Mist the area with clean warm water or blot with a wet towel, then blot with a dry towel. Repeat until the stain and cleaning solution are completely removed. Do not rub!

Note: Test any new cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area of the rug to ensure it does not damage the pile.
